  • Master-of-Nets Garden

  • Around 1000 years old, this tranquil garden is reputedly the best-preserved one in town. It has 22 special-purpose buildings, meant for only sipping tea, only painting, only resting, etc.

  • Guanqian means "before the temple". This is a historic commercial area around the mysterious Xuanmiao Taoist Temple and is renowned for shopping traditional goods and local authentic snacks.

  • Lingering Garden

  • One of the four most famous gardens in all of China. It was built in 1593, just before the Qing Dynasty. It's burstling with items from a long series of owners, including a 6.5m manmade snow peak.

  • This large hillock rises 36m from a 3 acre base and is said to have been breated as a tomb. It is now quite scenic & dotted with ancient structures such as a leaning pagoda.

  • Over 1500 years old, rebuilt in the fashion of the last dynasty, it's now named for a famous abbot who presided here, and it remains one of China's key places for Buddhist activities, 5km from Old Town.

  • Asia's longest roller coaster (787m), from Holland, is the first to be suspended in its new way. Tianya model fishing village has historic boats & costumes.

  • This 2006 structure was designed by Chinese-American architect IM Pei. A 2,200 m2 area displays many of the over 15,000 pieces in the collection, mostly ancient art & cultural relics.
