    If approaching from the South on the M66 leave at Junction 1 and stay in the right hand lane on the slip road, turning right at the end onto the A56. Continue on this until you reach a set of traffic lights where you turn left **there is a tourist signpost to the Old Mill at this junction**. Continue down into Ramsbottom, over the level crossing and through the village high street. Straight over the traffic lights and up the hill and you will see signs for the Old Mill, which is down Springwood Street on your right. If approaching from the North on the A56 then take the exit to Ramsbottom just before the Motorway starts. Follow the road into Ramsbottom and turn right at the traffic lights in the centre of the village. Travel up the road a short distance and turn right into Springwood Steet.

Browse amongst the antiques or walk further down towards the award winning East Lancashire Steam Railway and watch the steam trains go by. You could take the train along the line to Rawtenstall, the terminus for the railway, in the heart of Rossendale. The Weavers Cottage at Fall Barn Fold, Rawtenstall, is one of the finest examples of an 18th Century loom-shop. The Rossendale Valley is one of the most beautifully picturesque areas of Lancashire's Hill Country, with a wealth of stone-hewn buildings, museums, churches and mill shops. The influence of the Pennines is breathtaking. The land has a timeless quality and rugged peace. Bacup, Described by English Heritage as the best-preserved mill town in Britain, Bacup has a thriving shopping area and market on Wednesday and Saturday. Haslingden market dates back to 1676 when King Charles II granted the right to charge tolls and stallage. It is a bustling town and makes an ideal base for walking out onto the stunning Haslingden Grange or West Pennine Moors. Helmshore Textile Museums, Internationally famous for their collection of early textile machinery. These working museums are excellent examples of the region's industrial past. Wider Area, The Lowry Centre is a National Landmark Millenium Project for the Arts. The Centre houses the largest selection of Lowry paintings and drawings in the World. It has two galleries, two theatres, shops, restaurants and bars.
