Thanda Safari Lodge, Thandas flagship product, is known for its 9 bush suites, each the height of luxurious exclusivity and African abundance. Villa iZulu, ideal for celebrities and those with a special taste for privacy, is a bush homestead beyond any traditional understanding of extravagance and service. And Thanda Tented Camp, with its 14 grand tents and 1 grande deluxe tent, offers an authentic safari experience. An early morning or late afternoon safari is the best way to absorb the sights, smells and sounds of Africa. Guests encounter the Big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo): the animals that inspire a long-lasting connection with the continent. Apart from the 2 daily game drives, which are included in the rate, Thanda offers further activities that will make a stay truly unique, ranging from excursions into the local communities or time spent with the resident Wildlife Conservation Team to beach picnics on 9Mile Beach in close proximity to the Reserve.     Directions
    Richards Bay is the closest airport (1.5 hour drive), and the closest international airport is King Shaka, Durban (3-hour drive). Private charter flights can land at Mkuze Airfield, which is a 1.8 km tarred runway, only a 20-minute drive from Thanda. Thanda is in the process of establishing its own 1.8 km tarred runway on the reserve, which should be completed by the end of 2014. Thanda is situated 23 km north of Hluhluwe on the N2, towards Mkuze, approximately 265 km north of Durban. The reserve is easily accessible from the N2 via a gravel road, the D242, extending approximately 5 km to the west. Thanda is located in the heart of the Elephant Coast. Its close proximity to the Indian Ocean ensures a balmy climate throughout the year.
