The name Nevis is derived from the Spanish word nieve which means snow. Christopher Columbus gave the name to the island when he discovered it in 1493, due to the clouds on top of the mountain that he could see as he approached. This unspoiled island offers visitors the opportunity to experience the Caribbean as it should be. The climate is consistently pleasant and there are no monolithic hotel complexes, congested beaches or frantic commercial centres. In fact, the government does not allow buildings taller than two storeys, so that they will not be higher than the canopy cover of the palm trees. Four Seasons Resort Nevis offers the best of the Caribbean, with 196 spacious rooms and suites in 12 two-storey guest buildings just steps from the shore, canopied by swaying palms and surrounded on three sides by the spectacular golf course. Guest rooms feature a furnished outdoor veranda or patio reached through wooden-shuttered sliding glass doors. Oversized full marble bathrooms include a deep soaking tub and a separate shower. Complimentary Wi-Fi internet for 1 device per room, high-speed wired or wireless Internet service is available throughout the Resort.
