Property Description
1) Perched high above the desert capital of Jodhpur, Umaid Bhawan Palace is the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest residences in the world spread over 26 acres. Designed by famed Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester, the golden-yellow sandstone monument was conceived on a grand scale, in fashionable art deco style, and took 15 years to complete.     Set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens, the Umaid Bhawan Palace is the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest residences in the world. The palace is just 5 kms from the airport and railway station. Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh Ji, the grandfather of the present Maharaja of Jodhpur, Maharaja Gaj Singh Ji, this golden - yellow sandstone monument was conceived on the grandest possible scale and was completed in 1943. It has served as the principal residence of the Royal family. The palace was designed by the reknowned Edwardian architect - Henry Lanchester.
