Festung K nigstein
K nigstein Fortress, the Saxon Bastille, is a famous historic mountaintop fortress in Saxon Switzerland. The fortress was used as a state prison for centuries and is still intact. It is one of Saxony's foremost attractions (700000 visitors p. y.).

Hofkirche
Built 1738-54 in Baroque style by Gaetano Chiaveri. Largest church in Saxony. Cathedral of the Dresden-Meissen Diocese since 1980. In the crypt you will find the sarcophagus of the Wettins and a case containing the heart of Augustus the Strong.

Schloss Dresden
First mention of a castle some 700 years ago. A palace comprising four wings was built in the late 15th century. Renaissance-style enlargement 1548-56. Its characteristic copper Baroque cupola was restored in 1991.
Dresden Neustadt

The mural is painted on tiles from Meissen porcelain and 101 metres long. It depicts successive generations of Wettin rulers as a mounted procession.

Albrechtsberg Palace was built 1851-54 in Late Classicist style by Adolf Lohse for Prince Albrecht of Prussia. Lingner Palace was built at the same time for Prince Albrecht's chamberlain. Eckberg Palace was built 1859-61 in the style of Gothic Revival.
Blaues Wunder
The steel-girder construction of the suspension bridge, which was built 1891-93 to connect the districts Loschwitz and Blasewitz, was considered a technical wonder at that time, too. The bridge owes its name Blue Wonder to its light blue paint.
Frauenkirche
Frauenkirche church overtops the Dresden skyline. The reconstruction of the Frauenkirche is an impressive symbol of international reconciliation after World War II.
