A city filled with Yulan trees, Hefeis history dates back some 2,000 years. Located in central-eastern China, the capital of Anhui Province lies between the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River. Conveniently located, the Four Points by Sheraton Hefei forms part of the Hefei Municipal Government District and is right next door to myriad entertainment options. Another plus, our hotel is just six kilometers from the Central Business District and 35 kilometers from Hefei Xinqiao International Airport (HFE). Hefei is set amid beautiful natural scenery, including one of Chinas five largest freshwater lakes, Chao Lake. Some of the highlights found in and around the lake are Laoshan Island, Zhongmiao Temple, soothing hot springs, stunning national forests, and intriguing water-formed caves. Also in the area is Hefei Wildlife Park, home to approximately 2,000 animals. For a glimpse into the citys rich past, visit Baohe Park. Considered Hefeis most beautiful park, it houses the tomb of Lord Bao, one of the countrys most iconic figures. Xiao Yao Jin Park, Hefeis largest park, was the site of the historical Battle of Hefei, while the lovely former residence of the military commander Li Hongzhang is located along the Huaihai pedestrian shopping street. More history can be found at the ancient Buddhist Mingjiao Temple and the Anhui Provincial Museum (Anhui Sheng Bowuguan), which features a bronze exhibit, Huizhou style architecture, and Han Tomb engravings. For some exhilarating native entertainment, catch a Lu Opera performance. Or, for a different taste of local culture, sample the indigenous cuisine, such as Luzhou roast duck, Lord Bao fish, Caocao chicken, Li Hongzhang hodgepodge cuisine, honggao (baked cake), mabing (sesame cakes), baiqie (white sesame slices), and cunjin (sesame biscuits).
