Lying on the banks of the Yamuna River, Agra is a small town in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The Four Points by Sheraton Agra is conveniently located just off Fatehabad Road in Agras most toured area, Tajganj. Agra Fort Railway Station is less than 10 minutes away by car, and Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) can be reached in less than three hours via the Express Highway. The beautiful Taj Mahal, one of the worlds most famous buildings, is just a couple of kilometres away from our hotel. Listed as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the symmetrical marble mausoleum was completed in 1653 after 22 years of construction. It is open to visitors every day (except Friday) from sunrise to sunset. Explore Agras second most-visited attraction, the Red Fort of Agra. Made of red sandstone, this well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site is an important 16th-century monument. Inside its 2.5-kilometre long walls are audience halls, two mosques, and palaces, including Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal. About 40 kilometres from town, Fatehpur Sikri (meaning the City of Victory ) is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built during the second half of the 16th century, the complex is filled with monuments and temples, and is one of the Indias largest mosques. Just a few kilometres from our hotel, Sikandara Fort is an important piece of Mughal architecture and the mausoleum of Emperor Akbar. Built between 1622 and 1628, the Mughal red sandstone and marble mausoleum Itmad-ud-daulah Tomb (nicknamed Baby Taj ) is also noteworthy. Search for marble products, jewellery, and boxes and plaques with inlay work akin to the Taj Mahal in Tajganjs shopping arcades and markets. Agra is also famous for its leather goods. Dont miss sampling some of Agras delicious local foods, including the very sweet candy called petha, and the spicy lentil dish dal moth.
