Nestled along the banks of the River Sabarmati in the state of Gujarat, and once the home of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, Ahmedabad has a rich history that dates back to the 11th century. The Four Points by Sheraton Ahmedabad is conveniently located in the city centre, just opposite the Gujarat University Exhibition & Convention Centre, Ellis Bridge, and the Indian Institute of Management. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD) can be reached by car in 15 minutes. While in Indias fifth-largest city, visit the quiet Sabarmati Ashram. This simple cottage is both a national monument and a small museum. A treasure trove of intricate designs, beautifully hand-woven fabrics, and exquisite artwork can be found at the Calico Museum of Textiles in the palatial Sarabhai House. See the summer palace in the centre of Kankaria Lake and watch a musical fountain show. Experience more recreational fun at the popular Science City.
