Located alongside the Kuopio Marketplace in the Carlson building, Hotel Atlas is a historic hotel of the highest standards, set to re-open in May 10th 2012 after a thorough renovation. The new, contemporary Rantasipi Atlas ushers in a new standard of quality for the city; much like the original Atlas did upon its opening in 1930. Dos Amigos Restaurant on the street level provides a comfortable and relaxed setting, ideal for a stopping by for a drink or for a long, unhurried dinner of assorted Spanish delicacies. The hotel also offers arrangement of a large variety of corporate and private events in its versatile meeting and celebration venues. The hotel underwent a complete transformation during its recent renovation, although designers were careful to preserve the buildings best features out of respect for the hotels splendid history. The Hotel Atlas and department store building in the Kuopio city centre is a known city landmark along the Marketplace and remains a popular meeting spot to this day. Voted Finlands best market area, the Kuopio Marketplace and adjacent traditional Market Ballroom are both just a few steps from the hotel. The central city hotel location makes it easy to visit all the sites and services of the city by foot. The spectacular natural surroundings of North Savo are also close by and the popular Puijo sport and recreation area is a short two-kilometre trip.
