Belmond Hotel Monasterio is centrally located in Cusco - only a two block walk from the Plaza de Armas - Cuscos central square where the cathedral and most important museums are located. The Hotels history as a former monastery makes its inner courtyard a quiet haven from the city outside. Its central location provides an ideal base from which to discover Cusco and the ancient ruins of Sacsayhuaman - Pisac and several other archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. Originally built as a Monastery in 1592 on Inca foundations - the historic attributes of Belmond Hotel Monasterio provide a unique blend of historical architecture and artwork - including a beautiful chapel adorned with extraordinary gold ornaments. The Hotel combines the solemnity of a colonial monastery with the luxury - elegance - comfort and excellent quality of a modern five-star hotel. The original architecture and design has not been significantly altered and thus the rooms do reflect their origins as a home for Jesuit seminarians. There are no two rooms alike and they all vary in size and format. Facilities and services include world-class international and local cuisine served in two restaurants - two computers for guest use with broadband and wireless Internet access - meeting rooms and banqueting facilities - boutiques plus 24-hour concierge and room service. The Hotels luxurious accommodations include 104 guestrooms and 21 suites. Decor and furnishings combine the best of modern and traditional Spanish colonnial style. Many rooms and suites feature charming views of the city or the colourful rooftops of Cusco. Belmond Hotel Monasterio is the only hotel in the city that has counteracted altitude sickness symptoms by introducing an oxygen supplementation system in most of the rooms. Machu Picchu can be reached via a spectacular three-hour train journey from Cusco. Belmond Hotel Monasterio is only a ten-minute drive from Cusco Airport.

    Advance Purchase Rates/Hiram Bingham Packages/New Years Eve Packages are non-refundable and cannot be canceled or changed once confirmed. Cancel will result in full loss of deposit. All other reservations cancel by 12 noon local time 30 days prior or pay 1 night room charge plus tax and service fees.

    • The Plaza de Armas or Main Square is the core of the city center - offering historical buildings - cathedrals - shopping - restaurants and other points of interest.
  • Temple of the Sun/Church of Santo Domingo

    • The Church of Santo Domingo is built on the ruins of the famous Inca site of Coricancha or Templo del Sol. Coricancha translated as -golden courtyard- was in fact known literally for its gold. Solid gold sheets once lined the temple walls and golden statues and other objects decorated the interior.
  • Iglesia de la Compania de Jesus/Jesuit Church

    • Originally begun in the late 16th century - the church was almost entirely demolished by the earthquake of 1650 - rebuilt - and finally finished 18 years later. The church is said to be one of the best examples of colonial Baroque architecture in the Americas.
  • Sacsayhuaman Fortress

    • The most significant ruin in the Cusco area and also the closest to the city. Sacsayhuaman is a walled complex near the old city of Cusco at an altitude of 3700 meters above sea level. Giant boulders have been cut and fitted into impressive walls.
  • Sacred Valley Tour

    • The Sacred Valley is considered one of the areas main atractions because of its picturesque lanscapes and beautiful Incan historical sites. Sites included in the tour are Ollantaytambo - Pisac and Chincheros. Located as far as 60 kms from the Hotel - the tour departs from the Hotel.
